Christine Stepien, April 2026
Christine lives in an assisted living environment.
She has cerebral palsy and has been receiving the support of her family and friends for the majority of her life. The staff at her centre say that she the one that is loved the most, as she is so sweet, and patient with them.
I met her several years ago while I was offering caring for M and Mrs Beauchamp and their family. The couple lived with Dementia and Alzheimer’s, Christine and the Beauchamp’s were neighbors for over 20 years.
Even though Mr. Beauchamp had dementia, he knew that Christine would be returning to her childhood home on Thursday afternoon. Every Thursday up until 3 months before he passed he would say ”Christine is coming so we should head out soon ”. That is the power of Christine’s spirit and Marcel Beauchamp’s commitment to her and their sacred journey.
Christine has a YouTube channel, she loves the way it enables her to reach out and share her love of God with those she feels need to know Him too. She, along with her best friend Brian reach out to the people they meet at the centre where she lives, in the parks they go to, in the parking lot they smoke in, right outside her centre and at the hospitals they go to for the treatments they need. They say to everybody they meet “ God loves you !” that usually gets the conversation going, they have done God’s work and are grateful that they saved another soul for Jesus. Sometimes people are unappreciative of their offering, they don’t give up, they pray more for them.
I encourage Christine in ways that help her feel my support and encouragement – her YouTube channel is the extra mile I go for her.
I use whatever I can to help those I assist on their journey through their illness in ways that mean something to them.
This is what a caregiver does, we meet them where they are.
And all is well.
